Terminology

Throughout this course we will use the following terms:

• Communication disability – any disability that impacts on speech and / or understanding of spoken language

• Communication assistance – human supports that a person might need when communicating with another person

• Communication assistant – a person who supports a person communicating with others.  A communication assistant is not regulated or monitored and does not have accredited qualifications.
